About Austrlian Compass

Hi, I’m Blake, the owner of Australian Compass.

I created this website to make life in Australia easier to understand for newcomers. Moving to a new country can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. There is a lot of information available, but it is often scattered or difficult to understand. My goal is to provide practical, reliable, and easy-to-follow information in one place to help people navigate life in Australia with confidence.

In here you’ll find practical guides on topics such as:

  • Living in Australia
  • Jobs and careers
  • Aged Care and My Aged Care
  • Government services
  • Money and everyday life
  • Technology and AI
  • Business and entrepreneurship

Whether you’re planning your move, starting your career, supporting your family, or simply looking for reliable information, I hope Australian Compass helps you navigate your Australian journey with confidence.

My Australian Journey

I moved to Australia in 2022 on a Working Holiday visa, where I began my journey in Queensland. Later, I relocated to South Australia to study for a Master of Social Work at Flinders University.

I have worked in a variety of roles across different industries, including manufacturing, delivery services, community services, and aged care. From working as a pick packer, gardener, and machine operator to becoming a support worker, consultant, and case manager. Each role has taught me valuable lessons about resilience, adaptability, and the Australian way of life, which now inspire the practical guides and resources I share through Australian Compass.

Background

I earned my Bachelor of Social Work in Taiwan, where I began my career in the social services sector. For three years, I worked with people experiencing mental health challenges in a residential rehabilitation service and supported individuals with physical disabilities through the Spinal Cord Injury Association.

Community Involvement

I volunteer as a lifesaver at West Beach Surf Life Saving Club, where I help promote water safety and support the local community. During my studies at Flinders University, I also served as a Wellbeing Ambassador, promoting student wellbeing and helping create an inclusive campus environment. In addition, I have volunteered with the Better Together program, supporting community events that bring people together and encourage meaningful social connections.
